AMRITA: A Somatic Series
6 week course - Tuesdays 12:15pm
Class Duration: 1 hour
Next start date: January 6th for 6 consecutive weeks
In person | Westbourne Street, Hove | £90 | £65 Concession | Zoom £72
An evolution of Nectar class, Amrita offers a gentle yet profound exploration of the body through soft, fluid, rhythmic movement.
Each week we’ll focus on different relationships within the body, for example, the sacrum and sternum, exploring how these areas respond to life’s challenges and can release through tender movement and breath awareness.
The word Amṛta in Sanskrit is often translated as ‘nectar’, yet its meaning is much deeper. Amrita is the ‘elixir of immortality’. While this course won’t make you immortal (!), it will help you cultivate vitality and ease, softening the parts of you that feel stuck physically or emotionally.
Through these gentle somatic practices, we’ll signal safety to the nervous system and awaken the body’s natural capacity for restoration.
You’ll be guided through fluid, soothing movements, somatic awareness practices and yogic-style breathwork that together cultivate more grounding, nourishment and ease.
This class tends to be lying down and with little props. Recommended for everyone, especially those who wish to restore ease, reduce burnout, inflammation and nurture agency and connection to their body.
4 in-person students maximum.
Suitable for all levels of experience.
PRANAYAMA: Yogic Breathwork
6 Week Course - Mondays 6:30pm
Class Duration: 1 hour
Next start date: January 12th for 6 consecutive weeks
In person | Westbourne Street £90 | £65 concession | Online £72
Teaching through a yoga therapy lens, we will explore the breath as an intelligent, adaptable system that shapes our physiology, our agency and ultimately our sense of inner freedom.
The way in which we breathe directly affects mood, digestion, sleep and more. Through the breath we have capacity to increase vitality and bring a sense of balance and restoration.
Rather than jumping into ratios or progression, we'll work with restorative postures and somatic principles making sure practices are safe, accessible, and truly effective. From there, we explore over the weeks how prana expands when the body trusts, how breath can become a pathway back to choice, capacity, and liberation in daily life.
This class will explore breathing practices that are suitable for you as just like with all body based practices there is no one size fits all, so this class will meet your needs as we explore these very old and wonderful practices!!
